A Bachelor of Arts Degree with an Emphasis in Spanish Language and Culture seeks to develop a broader understanding of Hispanic cultures through their primary manifestation: language. In addition to improving the skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, courses expose students to historical, literary, and social artifacts of Spanish-speaking cultures.
Students won't just learn in the classroom, they'll experience the language and culture through opportunities in the Spanish Club and weekly interactions with native speakers, fellow students, and community members. Students enrolled in intermediate and upper level classes (4th semester and above) go a step further by meeting weekly with a Spanish native speaker for individual, 30 minute conversation sessions.
Students also have the option of viewing the world through short faculty-led trips or longer-term (summer, semester, or year) study abroad programs. Pittsburg State has several exchange agreements with universities throughout the world.
