Doctor of Philosophy - Education

Doctor of Philosophy - Education  offers supervision across a range of areas including early years, primary, secondary, further and higher education, as well as informal learning outside institutional contexts. 

All university research students are members of the Faculty’s Doctoral Training Programme and the University’s Graduate College. Students will be encouraged to become involved in our research activities and will have the opportunity to work alongside academics who are at the forefront of a number of world-leading research projects.

This program involves substantial work on original research, which can be empirical or based on documentary sources or secondary data. However, this is done with support from supervisors, and through engaging with other research students in the School of Education, Humanities and Languages.

Many of university graduates have continued to work after graduation, in schools or in educational provision in a wide range of other settings, including:

• Youth work
• Family and community work
• Further education
• Higher education
• Adult education.
