About Bachelor of Arts - Statistics - Actuarial Science
Program Description
As statistics majors, students can choose between two concentrations. The applied statistics concentration is geared toward students interested in statistical methodology and research for consulting activities in a wide range of industries. The actuarial science concentration is for students interested in applying their knowledge to assess risk in industries such as insurance, finance or investment. ONU's goal is to have actuarial science students pass two actuarial exams before graduation. The statistics program is designed to be completed in four years.
For those excelling at statistics, mathematics and business, the actuary profession may be a good fit. Being an actuary is engaging and challenging and actuaries report a high level of job satisfaction. While students only need a four-year undergraduate degree to become an actuary, they do have to pass a series of professional exams administered by the two leading actuarial societies of the U.S. ONU prepares students to pass two exams by the end of their third year, with the potential to pass a third exam during their fourth year.
