About Associate of Business - Leadership Development (101961)
Leaders are challenged with many priorities and a wide array of responsibilities including effectively managing a diverse workforce, helping organizations adapt to change, encouraging innovation, displaying a variety of effective leadership skills, demonstrating critical thinking skills, and using communication skills appropriate to a team environment. As a graduate of the Leadership Development associate degree, students are prepared for leadership roles in any organization.
This program is designed to attract persons who are already engaged in, or are preparing for, leadership roles in an organization. A student who is already in a leadership or other management level position will be able to expand his/her level of effective leadership skills. A student not currently in a first level management role will develop leadership skills and increase the chance of promotion.
Traditionally, a supervisor plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates activities of non-management employees in various occupational settings; trains and evaluates employees under her or his authority; implements policy decisions and work systems established by upper management; and facilitates communication and work flow.
In addition to traditional supervisory skills and practices, today’s leaders must understand system(s), variation, and continuous improvement processes; be facilitators rather than bosses; effectively manage work place diversity; help organizations adapt to change and encourage innovation; display leadership skills; use critical thinking skills; and use communication skills appropriate to a team environment.
Program Outcomes:
- Utilize quality strategies and tactics
- Apply effective leadership skills
- Apply Human Resource policies and procedures
- Perform supervisory management functions to achieve organizational objectives
