About Bachelor of Arts - Physical Education

The opportunity to instill the value of exercise and sport—which is known to benefit mental and physical health—has grown increasingly critical as the nation faces mounting public health challenges. Students will gain a scientific foundation in human movement and be prepared to become a teacher or coach, providing leadership in educational and recreational settings to help others develop athletic skills and healthy behaviors that will last a lifetime.

Learning Outcomes:
  •  Apply physical education content and instructional concepts related to the development of a physically educated person.
  • Develop and provide learning opportunities that support physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Create appropriate instruction adapted to demonstrate an understanding of how individuals differ in their approaches to learning.
  • Plan developmentally appropriate instruction units which foster the development of a physically educated person.
  • Use varied types of assessment and understands their contribution to the overall program and the development of the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional domains.
  • Reflect upon individual performance and understands its contribution to overall development and actively seek opportunities to sustain professional growth.
  • Use information technology to enhance learning and personal and professional productivity.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues, parents/guardians, and community agencies to support the development of a physically educated person.
