Modern biotechnology provides breakthrough products and technologies to combat debilitating and rare diseases; reduce our environmental footprint; feed the hungry; use less and cleaner energy; and have safer, cleaner, and more efficient industrial manufacturing processes.

Biotechnology is advancing every day with countless applications in our daily lives, from pharmaceutical development to food production and the treatment of waste pollution. At NEC, students will explore this cutting-edge field and delve into its many applications, exploring where it might go in the future.

The Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology program builds on NEC’s research culture established with the IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) program by including two new biotechnology lab courses and an applied biotech internship requirement.
