As the technical sophistication of most professions increases, there is growing need for individuals capable of “speaking the language” of mathematics. Mathematicians increasingly are sought to probe and expand mathematical theory, as engineering and empirical science delve deeper into nature. Individuals also are needed to teach the math skills that have expanded into virtually every field. Middle Tennessee State University’s Master of Science in Mathematics gets students involved in both the understanding and creation of advanced mathematics through quality instruction, opportunities for research, and close faculty-student interaction.
