About Master of Education - Elementary Education (PK-6)

Master’s in Elementary Education degree program provides the hands-on experience, group work, and advanced instructional practice students will need to make a difference for children in grades PreK–6.
  • Field experiences and student-teaching opportunities to get students ‘classroom ready’
    • Marymount offers a 14-week student-teaching internship at a Pk-6 school at one of the metro D.C. partners in public, private, or parochial schools. Students can also gain a global perspective through dynamic study abroad opportunities in countries like Panama, Colombia, Uganda, or New Zealand.   • Research to inspire change in education
    • Assist faculty from the elementary teacher education program on research projects that positively impact the field, or pursue a passion of students own. Students in the master’s in Elementary Education program have presented their findings at conferences and symposiums locally, nationally, and internationally. These experiences can enhance their resume or CV when seeking Elementary Education jobs after graduation.
  • Take classes with other M.Ed. majors
    • At Marymount, some of the coursework in elementary education is integrated with other M.Ed. majors. Share diverse perspectives and strategies, and collaborate with students peers.
  • Create a schedule that works for students
    • Theelementary teaching education program is flexible. Courses are offered online, on campus, and hybrid, so we can accommodate students busy life while they earn their degree. Take up to 2 years or enroll full time and complete their Elementary Education master’s degree with licensure in as little as one year.
