This degree course is designed to give students an in-depth understanding of the fashion industry and help them develop the writing, broadcasting and multimedia communication skills students need to forge a successful career. They’ll cover all aspects of the industry, from historical and theoretical backgrounds of journalism to international fashion strategy. They’ll also gain a solid grounding in media law – vital for a career in journalism - as well as first-hand knowledge of how the fashion business works.
Taught by practicing journalists and skilled marketers in the vibrant heart of London, students will gain all the skills required to write compelling academic essays, analyse and present marketing strategy and curate their own fashion blog.
To expand their skills, students will also undertake a work placement where they’ll develop the practical experience and industry contacts they need to get a head-start in their career. In addition, students will discover what working in the industry is really like during news days, as they’ll practice working under the same pressure as media professionals. Students will also have the opportunity to develop their skills and study abroad, thanks to London Met's partnership with a number of international universities.
An International Bright Futures Scholarship in the amount of £3,000 will automatically be applied to eligible students with overseas fee status starting a degree with London Met in the 2024/25 academic year. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction for the duration of students' studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
