London Metropolitan University's undergraduate course with a foundation year combines the disciplines of creative writing and literature. Students will get the unique opportunity to develop their own distinct creative writing style, while gaining an understanding of literary history and major genres in poetry, drama and prose.
The foundation year, or Year 0, is designed to prepare students for the challenge of studying at undergraduate level. Students will share this year with students from other disciplines, which will provide them with the unique opportunity to network with students from other courses and learn about their academic interests. During this year, students will focus on developing critical thinking, academic writing and research skills by exploring the themes of society, media, current affairs and other topics.
The final three years will focus on creative writing techniques and engage them in the comprehensive study of literary material, themes and genres. Students will also study the same course content and have the same choice of modules as students on the standard Creative Writing and English Literature BA course.
An International Bright Futures Scholarship in the amount of £3,000 will automatically be applied to eligible students with overseas fee status starting a degree with London Met in the 2024/25 academic year.
