About Master of Arts - International Relations - Extended

The Extended Master’s in International Relations begins with a 15-week programme that will help improve students English language ability and study skills before starting their master’s course in international relations.

Following this initial 15 weeks, students will go on to join the International Relations MA. This will teach students about current international relations in a global context. During the course, students will cover a variety of topics including international politics, public law and relations theory through lectures, seminars and discussions. To prepare students for a career in international affairs, students will apply their knowledge through presentations, group work and a final dissertation. By the end of the course, students will be ready to conduct analytical research into many areas of international relations and be able to explore a number of exciting career paths. The assessments at the end of each module have been carefully designed to ensure they have the opportunity to demonstrate their learning and meet the stated outcomes. Assessment methods include essay writing, formal examinations, report writing, group working, debating and formal presentations, together with the compiling of a portfolio of tasks and activities undertaken. The programme is planned to build both students' self-esteem and their confidence so they’re able to engage fully with study within the UK.
