About Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Drama and Music Production (W344)
Students will explore performance in the heart of the city of Liverpool. They will learn about the origins of drama and develop their skills in making new work.
Liverpool Hope University’s creative community is internationally renowned and world-leading in drama research and practice. Students will develop their acting skills, their ability to facilitate drama sessions, as well as improving their critical writing skills. The university makes use of the many theatre venues in Liverpool, from the traditional Everyman/Playhouse to the experimental Tate Liverpool as well as their own Capstone Theatre, several well-equipped studio theatre spaces dedicated for student use, and their very own Hope Theatre Company – of which students could play a part.
Throughout students' time at Liverpool Hope University, they will be asked to explore drama in relation to their own skills and interests, helping them to understand the critical place of drama in the 21st-century. The university's motto is to ‘educate in the round’, meaning students will develop transferrable social skills to take to future employers and make a difference in the workplace.
Liverpool is a vibrant city, tapping into the momentum and energy of a diverse creative scene, which stems from a long history as an international port city known for its music. Liverpool Hope University's course adopts a creative approach to music production that considers equipment to be a means to artistic ends, an aspect of modern musicianship that is essential for any self-sufficient practitioner.
Music Production gives students the opportunity to explore the creative, technical, and theoretical aspects of one of the most rapidly changing creative landscapes. The course will expose them to aspects of the music business and industry, as well as its many historical and theoretical concepts. It provides students the opportunity to develop lasting, transferable skill sets that empower them to develop a resilient and sustainable approach to their future practice. To achieve these aims, the program features:
- A creative outlook towards music production that explores equipment as means to artistic ends.
- A forward-looking program that values new practices in music production without excluding traditional topics.
- An integrated approach to music production that covers the fundamentals of the topic without leaving gaps in knowledge.
