About Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Nursing
Students will get a high quality education in medical surgical courses and all specialty areas including: critical care, obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health and community-based learning. And Lipscomb University’s graduates are successful — in fact, 100 percent of nurses who graduated from their program are working in their health care careers. Research shows 79.6 percent of employers want BSN-prepared nurses. And lower mortality rates, fewer medication errors and positive outcomes are an outcome of nurses prepared at the baccalaureate level (AACN, Oct. 2017).
So take advantage of the convenience of gaining experience and connections right here in the health care capital of the U.S. “Practice before students practice" in Lipscomb University’s on-campus, state-of-the-art high fidelity patient simulation lab. Students will be well-prepared when they get the chance to serve on medical mission trips at home and abroad.
Nursing is not only a career. It is a divine calling. The profession of nursing can provide job security and a comfortable income, but it is so much more than that. Aiding in the alleviation of a patient's pain, leading a dying patient in a prayer of salvation, or hearing words of affirmation and gratitude spoken over students after assisting a mother during the delivery of her newborn baby — those are the eternal rewards — the ones that money can't buy," says executive director Dr. Chelsia Harris.
Graduates of Lipscomb University’s Pre-licensure BSN program will be able to:
- Synthesize knowledge from nursing, the humanities, and the biophysical, and social sciences into the practice of professional nursing.
- Provide patient-centered health care to culturally diverse populations in a variety of environments, both independently and in collaboration with other health care team members.
- Demonstrate skills in critical thinking, decision-making, information management, and the nursing process with individuals, families, and groups experiencing complex health problems.
- Educate and counsel individuals, families, communities, and other groups using teaching/learning principles that promote, maintain and restore health.
- Evaluate and apply evidence-based findings to professional nursing practice.
- Utilize leadership skills in addressing professional nursing and healthcare issues.
- Demonstrate accountability for decisions about nursing practice that provide safe and high quality care.
- Communicate and collaborate with members of the healthcare team and consumers to provide and improve the delivery of healthcare.
