Bachelor of Arts - Art Therapy

With a bachelor’s in art therapy from Lewis University, students will build an interdisciplinary foundation in visual art and the study of human behavior that will prepare them to pursue the graduate study required to become a registered art therapist. The art therapy program will start students on a path to pursue emerging careers that support mental and physical health through the therapeutic function of art. There has been renewed interest in understanding the significant role the arts play in supporting health outcomes. In 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) recognized evidence supporting the positive impact of the arts on improving health and well-being. Specifically, it identified the role arts can play in promoting health equality, supporting good health, preventing illness, and treating acute and chronic conditions over a lifetime. Students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to understand how art and psychology can improve the health and well-being of individuals.
