A Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a broad range of tasks on a variety of light vehicles in the automotive retail, service and repair industry. Students use diagnosis procedures to determine faults, and service and repair the mechanical and electrical parts of motor vehicles such as engines, transmissions (clutch, gear box and differential), cooling, engine management and suspension systems.
A Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform advanced diagnostic tasks in the automotive retail, service and repair industry. Students will work in an automotive workshop as highly skilled diagnosticians. They are responsible for diagnosing difficult faults and must be able to use highly technical diagnostic equipment and have a high level of understanding of vehicle and machinery systems.
The Diploma of Automotive Management course is designed for automotive mechanics performing advance design and diagnosis on automotive mechanical or electric systems or students who have completed a certificate IV in Automotive. In this course students will learn how to design and modify as well as analyse, diagnose and evaluate automotive electrical and mechanical systems. When students complete this Diploma, they will also be able to develop and document specifications and procedures and the overhaul engines and the associated engine components, however, they will not receive a trade certificate or be able to work as a fully qualified mechanic without achieving the Provisional Skills Assessment requirements of Trades Recognition Australia.
