3-Term Pathway - Pre-Master's in Social Sciences and Law - Continue to Master of Laws - Law

This program will prepare students for entry to a postgraduate degree in a wide range of subjects at Lancaster University, including law, design and a world top 10 linguistics program (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023).

The LLM Law will develop students legal expertise – whether they’re new to the field or want to take their career to the next level. Students will enjoy flexibility and the freedom to choose from modules that match Their interests and ambitions.

Lancaster is carrying out leading research in a variety of areas – international law and human rights, crime, child and family justice, law and society, and more. All this work means their teaching on legal, jurisprudential and socio-legal issues is always informed by the latest practice.

The Research Methods in Law module will give students insight into theoretical approaches to the study of law, as well as practical guidance on research design and ethics.

Carry out in-depth projects

Students will apply their knowledge to a dissertation which will address a key legal question or issue. Past students have looked at areas like terrorism, breaches of human rights in the garments industry, and legal issues in VR and the metaverse.

Students carrying out their own research is a brilliant opportunity to contribute to the legal and academic community with new, original research and writing. They will have support from their supervisor throughout every step of the process.
