This interdisciplinary, science-based degree examines the interactions between the geology, biology, chemistry and physics of Earth’s surface, oceans and atmosphere. It gives students a deep understanding of Earth’s environment and how it can be influenced by human activities.

In years one and two you gain a firm grounding in earth sciences, building knowledge to inform their choice of third-year options. The third year includes an independent field and laboratory project and an industry-standard environmental impact study.

Bristol has a tightly knit community and a programme of student-run projects, informal seminars and social events. Courses include field trips in the UK and overseas, the cost of which is included in your tuition fee. Students will be invited on a field trip just before their first term starts, so they can get to know their year group before lectures begin.
