This degree develops the necessary analytical and quantitative skills for a wide range of careers in economics. The teaching is technically rigorous and econometrics, the application of statistical methods to data to estimate economic models, is a central component of the course.

Mandatory units in macro and micro-economics, mathematics, statistics and econometrics provide students with a strong foundation over the first two years of your degree. Students can complement these with optional modules from a wide range within the Schools of Economics, Finance and Management and other parts of the University. The number of options increases as students progress through the degree, allowing them the flexibility to select units from the areas of economics which most interest them.

In the final year most students choose an applied economics dissertation and select from optional units. In recent years units have included Behavioural Economics, Corporate Finance, Development Economics, Environmental Economics, Industrial Economics, International Economics and Operations Management.
