International Year One - Undergraduate Pathway - General (1-Semester Pathway) Transfer to Bachelor of Arts - French Teacher Education

International Year One is a supportive program that allows students to earn credits towards their degree while receiving additional academic, cultural and language support customized for international students.

Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of study at Illinois State University.

Bachelor of Arts - French Teacher Education

The award-winning and nationally accredited French Teacher Education major prepares graduates for K-12 teaching while offering a dynamic interdisciplinary lens for exploring the diverse cultural productions of the Francophone world, including language, literature, the arts, politics, philosophy, and other fields of human inquiry and creative expression. Students engage closely with faculty in small seminars and regularly study abroad for a year, semester, or summer in Angers or Grenoble (France) or Québec (Canada).

Co-curricular activities, such as Pi Delta Phi (the French Honor Society), conversation tables, guest lectures, service learning, and a film series, provide opportunities for students to hone their French skills outside the classroom.

Graduates in French Teacher Education demonstrate ACTFL-rated Advanced-Low language proficiency or higher and possess intercultural competencies, as well as the knowledge and experience necessary to become effective educators.
