International Year One is a supportive program that allows students to earn credits towards their degree while receiving additional academic, cultural and language support customized for international students.

Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of study at Illinois State University.

The Bachelor of Music Education (BME) program provides the foundation of critical skills and knowledge necessary for teacher candidates' preparation for licensure. Most importantly, these experiences help foster a strong educational philosophy focused on leadership and service to all students, ensuring their lives are enriched by the beauty of music.

Students have the opportunity to study with Music Education faculty who are dedicated to undergraduate teacher education. These faculty members are recognized nationally for their expertise and provide leadership and service in professional organizations and affiliations at local, state, national, and international levels.

Students seeking a Bachelor of Music Education choose from one of four sequences based on their primary performance area, which includes brass, percussion, piano, strings, voice, or woodwind. The available sequences are:

All sequences follow an 8-semester plan of study that prepares students for the K-12 Music teacher's license, making them eligible for employment in all grade levels of music instruction (elementary, middle, and secondary) as well as all areas of music education (band, choir, general, and orchestra).
