Bachelor of Science - Neuroscience

Neuroscience majors combine coursework in psychology, biology and chemistry to gain insight and understanding about how the brain, body and nervous system work. Students who pursue a neuroscience degree often go into medicine, teaching or research, including robotics and bioengineering. Neuroscience is generally designed to provide rigorous preparation for advanced study in a PhD program. In addition to coursework in psychology and biology, classes in physics and chemistry are also required. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the program, it's not unusual for some classes to be co-taught by biology and psychology professors in order to give each discipline their proper perspective.

Coursework may prepare students to become medical scientists, who form hypotheses and develop experiments. There is also growing involvement of neuroscience in the burgeoning areas of robotics, bioengineering, and artificial intelligence.
