Bachelor of Arts - Spanish

Spanish is the second language in the world with regard to the number of native speakers. It is also the second language in the United States, with an increasing political, economic, and cultural influence in the country. Fluency in the Spanish language and knowledge of the culture(s) of the Spanish-speaking world is key to being competitive in the increasingly multilingual world of the 21st century.

Hofstra University’s BA in Spanish helps students improve their communicative skills while enhancing their understanding of the culture, literature, history, linguistics, and politics of the Spanish-speaking world –globally and in the U.S.

The program takes the students from their starting level of proficiency into specialized courses, which can be combined with a number of other programs on campus, including specializations in European Studies or Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
