Program Description

The Department of Political Science offers a dynamic faculty dedicated to teaching, mentoring and research. Our faculty members have won teaching and mentoring awards, competitive research fellowships and are published in academic venues and comment or publish within highly respected outlets of public discourse. We pride ourselves in developing students’ analytical abilities, critical thinking, writing, and quantitative reasoning skills to prepare them for dynamic careers in any number of fields including: government service, non-profits, business, education, and law. We also provide unique opportunities for students to explore their academic and career interests.

Political Science examines both domestic and international governance, government and its institutions as well as the connection between government and society. Understanding the complexity of society and government at the local, national and international level can prepare students in a multitude of professions as well as cultivate an informed citizenry.
