Bachelor of Arts - English - Children's and Young Adult Literature

Program Description

The English Department's newest concentration is in the burgeoning field of Children's and Young Adult Literature. This innovative program draws not only on the department's diverse resources but also reaches outside for classes in Child Psychology and Literacy Studies. The heart of the program is a sequence of classes on literary history and method, culminating in specialized courses on topics such as "the child in literature" and fairy tales.  Rounding out the program are creative writing courses on writing for young readers and publishing studies courses focused on this expanding market.
