Bachelor of Arts - Education Studies

The Education Studies teacher preparation program provides intellectual tools, professional experiences, and reflective conversations that enable students to make a difference as teachers in a diverse world.

The BA is an interdisciplinary major that prepares students to teach in elementary schools. Students observe and participate in local elementary schools and engage in weekly seminars that integrate theory and practice, subject matter knowledge and pedagogy. This means that from their first semester, students are engaged in the content, theory, and practice of teaching and reaching every elementary school student. 

In their senior year, students will participate in a 15-week student teaching placement at a public elementary school. Mentoring, advisement, and guided field experiences support them along the way. Graduate with a broad range of knowledge and skills specifically designed for those who want to teach. Develop valuable critical-thinking, problem-solving and communication skills that can also be successfully translated to many occupations.
