Program Description
The Deakin College Foundation Program is equivalent to upper secondary school (Year 12) and university foundation programs. It aims to prepare students for further study in a Deakin College Diploma or for entry into the first year of a selected Deakin University bachelor degree.
The course consists of either a standard or extended track program. The standard track program consists of eight academic units: five core units and three elective units. The extended track program has an additional four units.
Various support services focusing on language, literacy and numeracy assistance are also available to help students in their studies. Each unit includes four hours of classes per week. Assessment for all units is continuous and includes tests, assignments and case study analysis. Most units have a final two-hour examination. To graduate from the Deakin College Foundation Program, students must complete and pass all eight units in the standard program or 12 units in the extended program.
The Diploma of Construction Management prepares students with all the foundational and practical knowledge for the second year of their Deakin University degree and a hands-on career in construction management. Deakin’s unique multidisciplinary approach sees construction management and architecture students working together, giving them valuable real-world experience and an industry advantage.
Deakin’s Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) equips students with market-ready skills for construction management, quantity surveying and property development. Work confidently across projects large and small, with a strong focus on practical learning, they will develop the initiative and ability to hit the ground running.
Undertaking industry placements will help students to kickstart their professional experience while building professional networks, technical knowledge and skills. Collaborate with Deakin’s architecture students to gain a sound understanding across both disciplines. This experience prepares students for the real world and ensures them graduate with the well-rounded and adaptable skillset employers are looking for.
