3-Term Pathway - Incorporated Bachelor Year Zero - Life Sciences - Transfer to Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Education Studies with Psychology

The International Year Zero (IYZ) is the first year of the four-year International Incorporated Bachelor's (IIB) programme taught at De Montfort University International College (DMUIC). During this initial year, students focus on strengthening their English language abilities and gaining an introduction to key concepts and academic skills required for their chosen degree subject. Upon successful completion of this year, students progress to the remaining stages of their degree course directly with De Montfort University (DMU).

Education Studies with Psychology explores how childhood is understood and shaped by societal influences, while examining how educationalists and psychologists conceptualise personal, social, emotional, and intellectual development.

Graduates of the course have gone on to pursue careers in teaching, education practice, early years childcare, youth work, educational publishing, and the creative industries. Many also choose to continue their studies at postgraduate level, including programmes such as the Education Practice MA.

The curriculum covers a broad range of topics, including perspectives on education, thinking and learning in higher education, historical and contemporary issues in childhood, social justice and education. In the first year, students also develop their professional agency through a practical placement.

In the second and third years, students have the opportunity to tailor their learning through elective modules. Options include forest school and outdoor learning, preparing for professional practice, music in school life, inclusion, education and equality, special educational needs, and creativity in education.
