About General Arts and Science: English Language Studies (7389)
The two-year General Arts and Science: English Language Studies (ELS) certificate program focuses on academic English language skills that prepare students with the language requirements necessary to pursue other post-secondary programs in Ontario.
Students take courses that develop reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, with an emphasis on pronunciation. They also complete credit-based courses to develop knowledge about Canada and to prepare for success in higher education.
Conestoga accepts students for the fall, winter, and spring/summer terms
- The ELS program consists of four levels, each lasting one full term (15 weeks).
- New students are placed into one of the four levels based on the results of the online Conestoga English Language Assessment and Placement (CELAP) test.
Delivery options
- Hybrid: Two days online (synchronous) and three days on campus.
- Online: All classes are online (synchronous).
