About Bachelor of Arts - Theatre Studies
The Theatre Studies, BA program prepares students to be well-rounded theatre artists, with an opportunity to study and explore across a variety of areas in theatre. The program trains students to be professional artistic collaborators using consent-based practices, social justice lenses, and courses in acting, directing, design (costume, lighting, scenic, and sound), stage management, theory, and research. Students put theory and research into practice as part of Central Theatre Ensemble’s regular on-campus season as dramaturgs, designers, technicians, stage managers, and performers.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Critically research, analyze, and interpret dramatic literature and performance as a theatre artist-scholar.
- Develop an understanding of playwriting and production processes, aesthetic properties of style, and the way these shape and are shaped by artistic, cultural, political, and historical forces.
- Apply collaborative skills in a theatrical environment.
- Evaluate and demonstrate the multi-faceted conceptual and practical skills of theatre and performance.
