Integrated Masters - Master of Science - Geology (F604)

The Geology course, students will have the opportunity to explore the formation of rocks and minerals, the evolution of animals over geological time, the causes of earthquakes and volcanoes, and the impact of geology on lives today. The course aims to develop students' skills in fieldwork, data capture, analysis, and confident decision making. The degree program has been designed in collaboration with industry professionals to ensure that graduates possess the specialist skills required to pursue a career as a professional geologist.

The university takes advantage of its location by organizing regular field trips in South Wales, allowing students to witness firsthand how geology influences the landscapes and industries of the region. Additionally, there are opportunities for students to participate in overseas trips, with previous destinations including Spain and Cyprus.

The Master's degree program extends the study period by an additional year, during which students will collaborate with an academic from the School on an exploration research project. This fourth year of study aims to further enhance students' research skills and provide them with valuable experience in scientific writing and professional-level presentation.
