Master of Arts - English Literature

Drawing on staff research expertise from the Romantic period to contemporary literature Cardiff Met explores a range of literary forms and delve into subjects such as historical and contemporary representations of place, the politics of genre fiction, and the representation of gender and sexuality. The dissertation gives students the flexibility to pursue their own research interests with the support and encouragement of a supervisor. Cardiff Met's wider academic community is dynamic so students will also have the chance to take part in additional activities which can include, but are not limited to, open mics, guest speakers, archive and museum visits, poetry readings and more. 

The programme is taught by published researchers and writers. The course aims to support students while they develop and hone their critical writing and research skills, all of which are transferable to a range of industries.  They can take the MA for professional development purposes, in order to enhance their career and to increase their employability in the creative arts, education, and heritage sectors. This  degree will also help students to specialise in an area of literary study which can pave the way for doctoral study.
