About Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Biomedical Science with foundation year

Biomedical Science operates in a regulated environment and needs well trained professionals with a knowledge of human physiology, human disease and genetics, as well as possessing strong laboratory and computer analytical skills.

Students will also be encouraged to broaden their experience by interacting with a range of employers through the Industry Liaison Lab at Discovery Park, Sandwich.

A foundation year helps students develop the study skills and self-confidence needed for higher education when they don’t reach the entry requirements for their subject.

This Biomedical Science course has been designed to provide students with a broad understanding of the scientific basis of both human health and disease, and to help them learn the critical scientific skills that students need to allow them to succeed in a rapidly changing employment environment. This course will provide students with a gateway to life-long learning about issues that will really matter to the shared future.

Students will gain knowledge in all these areas, and will develop the practical skills desired by industry employers. They'll also have the opportunity to undertake specialist training to meet their own individual career aspirations, including an optional placement, internships where available, and volunteer opportunities.

This course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology for the purpose of meeting in part the academic and experience requirement for the Membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol).
