About Bachelor of Arts - English Teaching
The B.A. in English Teaching leads to teacher certification in English Language Arts for grades 6-12 in the state of Idaho. It is possible to obtain teacher license reciprocity if students plan to move outside of Idaho after graduation.
The English Teaching program is a partnership between the English department and the College of Education. English majors will take courses in linguistics, literature, and writing, as well as English teaching methods. Students will also spend time taking courses in the College of Education and engaging in fieldwork in English Language Arts classrooms, which is coordinated by the division of Teacher Education.
The English Teaching program consists of three semesters:
- Block 1: early field placement
- Block 2: internship
- Block 3: student teaching
