Master of Arts in Teaching - Teaching - Middle Grades 6-8 Mathematics

Potential students has a bachelor degree, may enjoy working one of one with middle school-aged students, collecting data, and has enthusiasm to teach and talk about mathematics.

In the Middle Grades Math M.A.T. program, students will have a broad-base and comprehensive liberal arts education. In the Martha Dickerson Eriksson College of Education, students will learn the important skills, pedagogical knowledge, and dispositional requirements for teaching students in the middle school classroom in mathematics. The education programs at APSU are all nationally accredited. The programs have great relationships with local school districts and teacher candidates will be a part of the 21st century learning and teaching landscape.

In the Department of Teaching and Learning, students will have the opportunity to learn the skills required to be a professional educator. The Middle Grades Math M.A.T. program allows students to complete initial licensure requirements and earn their master’s degree in as few as 15 months. By completing this program, teacher candidates will be competitive candidates in the job market across the United States.

All classes are taught by dynamic and experienced faculty of the College of Education who have experience in public schools at all grade levels and in all subject areas and have all worked extensively in teacher education and leadership.
