The Extended Accelerator Program (EAP) may be completed in a few as three semesters and is for students seeking an immersive English-learning experience.
The program gives students a firsthand, practical, and cultural understanding of the American University campus and the Washington, DC, area through its contextual curriculum. They may enter the program in the spring or fall and progress into year two of their undergraduate education with up to a full year’s worth of academic credits. Depending on their intended degree, they may choose their elective curriculum in social sciences, humanities, or the sciences.
Whether graduate students aspiring to advance their career, or an undergraduate inspired by the power and workings of government, the degree programs and certificates in the Department of Government in the American University School of Public Affairs will give them the skills and knowledge they need today to become one of the leading political practitioners of tomorrow.
The curriculum draws from the breadth and depth of intellectual resources across American University, providing students with rigorous training and critical thinking skills essential to analyzing political activity and behavior and understanding systems of government. The programs combine expertise and scholarship in political science, political communication, and more focused areas such as women and politics. Through the rich academic curriculum, unparalleled ability to connect them with experts, and prime location at the center of the action, the School of Public Affairs’ Department of Government opens the door to our political system and prepares them to compete and lead in the government arena.
