Academic Accelerator - Bachelor of Arts - Political Science

The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) may be completed in as few as two semesters and is designed specifically for students who are ready to succeed in immersive English-speaking classrooms.

The Academic Accelerator program gives students a firsthand, practical, and cultural understanding of the American University campus and the Washington, DC, area through its contextual curriculum. They may enter the program in the spring or fall and progress into year two of their undergraduate education with up to a full year’s worth of academic credits. Depending on their intended degree, they may choose their elective curriculum in social sciences, humanities, or the sciences.

The Department of Government makes use of the opportunities available from its location in the nation's capital for the teaching and study of political science and public affairs. The department's undergraduate program focuses on government and public affairs as an aspect of a broad liberal arts education. It prepares the student for an enlightened role in national, community, and world affairs. This program can lead to a career in public affairs or any private or not-for-profit area that deals with the growing interrelationship between the public and private sectors. It also provides a solid and comprehensive foundation for those who plans to pursue further education before entering a career in politics or public affairs, governmental administration, law, teaching, or research.
