Students can differentiate their Bachelor of Business Administration degree by taking a minor in Marketing. The Marketing option offers students an opportunity to combine their business skills with their creativity. Students cover general and advanced marketing concepts, and courses investigate how these concepts are used in various organizations and markets, both domestic and international. In this program students will learn valuable skills including:
- Viability assessment of marketing a product or service in a new market;
- Primary and secondary research in new and existing markets to determine new opportunities
- Product research
- Application of leadership skills to contribute to the successful marketing and business development function of an organization
- Personal and professional enhancement and developmental strategies to improve leadership abilities, and knowledge of marketing practices
- Marketing plan development including marketing objectives, marketing mix, strategies, budgetary considerations, and evaluation criteria.
Algoma's Marketing minor prepares students for a wide range of roles in the competitive industry of Marketing. Some of these roles include, but are not limited to: Advertising Specialist, Art Director in advertising, Wholesale/Retail Manager, Marketing Officer, Marketing Coordinator, and Promotional and Communications Officer.
