About Extended Accelerator - Bachelor of Science - Physical Education
The Extended Accelerator Program (EAP) is a three-semester program for students seeking an immersive English-learning experience. The program gives students firsthand practical and cultural understanding of the Adelphi campus and New York area through its contextual curriculum. Students may enter the program in the spring, summer or fall. Upon completion of the program, students progress into the second year of their undergraduate education with a full year’s worth of academic credits.
Students learn to use exercise, sport, games, and dance in age-appropriate programs for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Through a multidisciplinary approach, students gain the skills necessary to work with individuals and diverse groups in a variety of settings such as schools, community health centers, hospitals, recreation centers, and the workplace. Students may specialize as coaches, teachers, or adapted physical educators. A teaching practicum and field experience are required.
