Bachelor of Fine Arts - Acting

Grow acting skills in a training program focused on preparing students for the film and television industry. In Academy of Art University’s BFA Acting program, students will develop a professional demo reel showcasing their ability to create engaging characters on film. Learn to act from a place of authenticity in the series of Meisner classes, students get to deepen their sense of play through improvisation, expand their physical and vocal choices through a progression of Alexander Technique for Camera and Voice and Speech classes. Go in depth in the script analysis and rehearsal techniques classes. Use electives to study Stunts & Fights, Character Voices for Games, Animation & Cartoons, Accents & Dialects, or Comedy for Social Media. Students will graduate with plenty of practice in professional audition technique and a reel of work that showcases their talents.

Undergraduate students will meet the following student performance criteria:

Acting

• Behave truthfully under imagined circumstances, as defined by the script
• Listen and respond to other actors reflexively and organically in the working environment
• Play a variety of actions in pursuit of an objective

Movement

• Make effective physical choices for each role.

Voice & Speech

• Use language clearly in pursuit of an objective
• Demonstrate basic command of vocal production for camera and stage

Professional Readiness

• Assemble a resume, headshot, website, and reel suitable for seeking opportunities within the acting profession.
