Program Description
The MA in Welsh and Celtic Studies is a unique taught masters that enables students to explore the full range of Celtic languages and literatures, from the earliest period to the modern day.
Celtic Studies is a fascinating discipline, and this degree will give students the chance to study, with expert tuition, individual Celtic languages, as well as their literature and culture. Whether they are interested in language, literature or culture, they will be able to choose from a wide variety of subjects that interest them. Comparative modules will prepare them to critically examine the origins of the Celtic-speaking peoples and the intriguing historiography of Celtic Studies. In the dissertation module, students will work under the guidance of an expert to develop a research project which speaks to their own specific research interests.
Students don't have to be fluent in Welsh or Irish to study this course. Its flexible structure makes it suitable for those who are entirely new to Celtic Studies as well as those who have studied Celtic languages and literatures at undergraduate level.
