Overview

The International Study Centre Undergraduate Progression Scholarship at Cardiff University offers substantial financial support for international students advancing from the International Study Centre (ISC) to eligible undergraduate degree programmes. This scholarship provides awards ranging from £2,000 to £3,000 per academic year, helping to ease tuition fee costs for self-funded students demonstrating academic excellence.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Successfully complete their Cardiff University ISC programme in the 2025/26 academic year.
  • Be classified as an international student for fee-paying purposes.
  • Be self-financed without receiving non-repayable funding from other sources (educational loans are permitted).
  • Hold an offer for an eligible undergraduate degree programme starting in September 2026.
  • Meet all conditions of their Cardiff University offer by 7 September 2026.
  • Note: All undergraduate programmes in the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, and Healthcare are excluded from this scholarship.

Scholarship Value and Conditions

The scholarship awards are applied as a tuition fee discount per academic year, up to a maximum of four years:

  • £2,000 per year for ISC International Foundation Year (IFY) and International Year One (IY1) students upon successful progression.
  • £3,000 per year for IFY students achieving an overall grade of 75% or higher.
  • £3,000 per year for IY1 students achieving an overall grade of 70% or higher.

Important conditions include:

  • The scholarship is a tuition fee discount only and cannot replace any required deposit or be exchanged for cash.
  • It applies exclusively to full-time, Cardiff campus-based taught programmes; placement, year in industry, or study abroad years are excluded.
  • Students who receive other scholarships, bursaries, or funding covering tuition fees are not eligible.
  • The scholarship is for entry in the autumn semester of the 2026/27 academic year; deferrals may be possible while the scheme is active.
  • Funding will not cover repeat years or be extended beyond four years even if the programme length exceeds this.
  • Students must meet UK visa financial requirements independently of the scholarship.

Application Process

No separate application is necessary. Eligible students holding an offer for a qualifying programme will be automatically awarded the scholarship upon enrolment, provided all criteria are met.
