About Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB) - Elementary and High Schools
Windsor-Essex is one of the most culturally diverse regions in Canada, which makes it an ideal location for students from around the globe to study. WECDSB schools are now home to hundreds of international students, and their team of support staff are devoted to ensuring they have a rich educational and cultural experience. They offer a wide variety of innovative programs and extracurricular activities to help students grow personally and academically while developing their English language skills.
In terms of Academic Achievement, WECDSB is a top ranking school board in Ontario (Rank #1 in Southern Ontario and top 3 province wide). They pride themselves on organizing and running a variety of successful study programs for more than 200+ international students a year. Whether it is a chance to experience a Canadian school and the culture for a short time or a bigger opportunity to graduate with an Ontario Secondary School diploma, WECDSB has something to meet each student’s needs.
Why WECDSB?
- Graduation Rate: WECDSB’s international student graduation rate is 97% annually with program acceptance to a wide-range of Ontario post-secondary institutions. These include University of Windsor, University of Toronto, Western University, St. Clair College, Conestoga College, Queens University and the University of Waterloo.
- Client support from start to finish: From the point of registration to the first day of school, each student is treated as an individual. WECDSB’s job is to fully support the agent, parent and student during their time with the school.
- Free language assessment: All long term students are asked to complete an online assessment prior to their arrival in Canada. This free 30-minute online test is sent directly to all new students. The assessment score is sent back directly to the WECDSB International Student Coordinator, who reviews the results and determines the best school placement for the student.
- In-school Student Guidance: All long term international students will have 1-point of contact at their school who they will meet with regularly to support them with class schedules, tests, school environment and any concerns or questions they have along the way.
