About Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) - Centre Dufferin District High School
Centre Dufferin District High School is located in the town of Shelburne and has a proud tradition of academic excellence and extracurricular success. CDDHS believes students, staff, parents and the community are partners, working together to ensure the success of each student, as expressed by the school motto: Partners learning together, creating successful tomorrows: Purpose and intention equal deep understanding.
Additionally, Centre Dufferin District High School is one of three high schools that run the Upper Grand District School Board's Digital Historian Project. The program offers students the opportunity to learn and apply research the organizational skills while contributing to a digital archive of Dufferin County's veterans and their war stories.
Over the early years Centre Dufferin at times was a school for grades 8 to 13, in 1975 the school went under major renovations and a gym was added along with technology classrooms. The current student population is approximately 850.
Centre Dufferin District High School “Home of the Royals” is a proud part of the community. The goal is to create a welcoming safe and friendly environment where all students develop a pathway that leads to future success.
Why Centre Dufferin District High School
- Course variety: The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) is a ministry-approved specialized program that allows students to focus their learning on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and assists in their transition from secondary school to apprenticeship training, college, university, or the workplace. CDDHS is proud to offer six majors – Arts & Culture, Business, Construction, Health & Wellness, Hospitality & Tourism and Transportation.
- Extracurricular activities: Centre Dufferin District High School offers a number of ways for students to get involved outside the classroom. Some of the clubs available include the athletic council, environmental club, yearbook, and student council. CDDHS offers the following athletic teams: basketball, volleyball, hockey, badminton, cross country, curling, field hockey, football, rugby, golf, swimming, tennis, hockey, soccer, wrestling, and track and field.
