About Sea to Sky School District 48 (SD48) - Whistler Secondary

Whistler Secondary is situated in beautiful Whistler, BC. In partnership with parents and the community, Whistler Secondary provides an environment that enables students to realize their potential, to recognize their unique value as human beings, and to become productive, responsible citizens. Whistler Secondary School students pursue excellence in all that they do and support each other in order to achieve their personal goals of success.


Due to the relatively small size of the school, the Sea to Sky School District is able to offer a personalized service to students. All schools have current libraries, computers/laptops, gymnasiums, art, band, theatre and fully operational science labs. All secondary schools are new or recently renovated so the facilities are technologically equipped to meet the needs of the 21st century.


Why Whistler Secondary

  • Location: Whistler is a 40-minute drive north of Squamish and is nestled below Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. In recognition of its world-class status as a ski resort, Whistler was home to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Whistler has been recognized as a top ski resort in North America for over a decade. Whistler also offers excellent summer activities including canoeing, free riding, downhill mountain biking, fishing, and golf. Whistler has a local population of around 10,000 but numbers swell on weekends and on holidays up to 25,000 with tourists from around the world, which gives Whistler a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
  • Course variety: Courses of study are based on the competencies of Collaboration, Contribution, Creation & Innovation, and Thinking Critically. Courses at Whistler Secondary include Mathematics, English, Physical Education, Social Studies, Sciences, Computer Sciences, Fine Arts (Art, Drama, Music), Business Education, Languages, Tech & Home Economics, and Career & Personal Planning.
