About Sea to Sky School District 48 (SD48) - Howe Sound Secondary School

Howe Sound Secondary School is a 10-12 Graduation School situated in beautiful Squamish BC, proudly located on Sḵwx̱wú7mesh nation territory. HSSS has a student population of 650 students and offers excellent programs in the arts, service, academics, and athletics. Howe Sound's mission is to foster a strong sense of community that provides opportunities for students to become motivated learners capable of achieving their potential.

  • Location: Situated at the head of Howe Sound and surrounded by mountains, Squamish is cradled in natural beauty. Located just 45 minutes north of Vancouver on the Sea to Sky Highway, Squamish has everything: location, geography, wildlife, and weather. Squamish is known as the outdoor recreation capital of Canada with world-class rock climbing, cross-country mountain biking, hiking, river rafting, kitesurfing, and windsurfing.
  • Course variety: Courses of study are based on the competencies of Collaboration, Contribution, Creation & Innovation, and Thinking Critically. Courses at Howe Sound include Mathematics, English, Physical Education, Social Studies, Sciences, Computer Sciences, Fine Arts (Art, Drama, Music), Business Education, Languages, Tech & Home Economics, and Career & Personal Planning.
  • Extracurricular activities: To make the most of the school year, Howe Sound students are encouraged to become involved. Some of the opportunities for involvement include track & field, soccer, volleyball, rugby, basketball, golf, cross country running, mountain biking, climbing club, physics club, book club, eco club, art club, diversity club, and gaming club.
