Why Linsly School (Amerigo Education)

  • Scenic School Rooted in History and TraditionThe Linsly School has a rich 200 year history. Since its founding in 1814, Linsly’s mission has always been to focus on academic excellence, character development and providing experiences that develop impactful and successful global leaders. Its scenic 57-acre campus offers an ideal setting for a safe and vibrant learning community. Ranked the top private school in West Virginia, Linsly also offers easy access to nearby destinations like Washington DC and Pittsburgh, connecting students with professional and educational resources in these locations.
  • A Strong STEAM-Based College Preparatory Curriculum and Individualized Attention to Each StudentThe Linsly School’s challenging STEAM-based college preparatory curriculum offers more than 20 AP and advanced courses. With a student-to-teacher ratio of 7:1 and average class sizes of 10 students, Linsly’s personalized academic environment allows teachers to get to know every student well and provide individualized academic help. In addition to support from teachers, there is also a robust peer tutoring program and the Aviator Program, which is a supplementary education option available for students who need more structured support to improve time management and executive functioning skills. The college search and selection process at Linsly is very personalized, with both expert faculty and the esteemed Naviance Program available. Graduated seniors have been consistently enrolled at Top 50 universities.
  • Affordable and Comprehensive Boarding ProgramResidential students live in one of four dormitories, supervised by faculty who live alongside students on campus in residences with their families. Because each dormitory is connected to at least two faculty residences, students’ dorms are literally an extension of the faculty members’ homes. From family-style dinners with their friends and adults, to structured evening study halls supervised by faculty, to evening get-togethers for pizza and movies, boarding life at Linsly balances the structure and discipline necessary for academic success with the nurturing support necessary for personal fulfillment. With a total cost of $50,825, Linsly is one of the most affordable top traditional boarding school options for international students.
  • Unique Leadership OpportunitiesLeadership development is a major component of the Linsly School student experience. All teachers, coaches and administrators at Linsly take the time and effort to prioritize modeling leadership qualities to students. The James F. Companion Leadership Institute is a program for all Linsly Upper School students, offering a four-year curriculum in a seminar and workshop format. The curriculum helps students develop leadership skills, preparing them for a life of success and significance, while also equipping them to be impactful members of their future college or university. Other featured opportunities for student development include The Prefect System, National Honor Society and the Resident Assistant (RA) program.
