J.V. Humphries celebrates the development and evolution of learning opportunities in partnerships with students, families, staff, and community. It is privileged to be one of British Columbia’s growing number of K-12 schools, and its learning community spans all ages, including early learners and adult learners. J.V. Humphries intends to continue to develop learning experiences that are relevant, engaging, and rigorous and that helps develop excitement and empowerment for lifelong learning.

Why J.V. Humphries Secondary School

• Exploratory courses: At J.V. Humphries Secondary School, all students participate in Friday "exploratories", which are courses designed to ignite and support students in areas of interest and passion. They are hands-on, place-based, and student-directed. Exploratories offered in the past have included Tech and media, Outdoor education, Leadership, Creations (Art), Costume Design and Anime, Sustainable living, and Performing Arts.
  
• Extracurricular activities: J.V. Humphries Secondary School values the importance of extracurricular activities as part of the learning that happens at school. Participation in extracurricular activities is encouraged for all.
