• Location: Windsor-Essex is the most southern community in Canada. Located on the shores of Lake Erie Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River, directly across from Detroit, Michigan, Essex County’s landscape is rich in agricultural land. Windsor is located 370 km southwest of Toronto, the provincial capital. As a border city, residents enjoy quick and easy access to Detroit, Michigan and world-class cultural attractions, academic institutions, dining, shopping, entertainment, recreation opportunities and professional sports teams.
• Weather: Windsor enjoys 4 seasons with a relatively temperate climate. Summers can be hot and humid with little rain. Fall is generally beautiful, with summer temperatures lingering and turning gradually cooler into November with some rain. Winters are mild compared to the rest of Canada, but students need to be prepared for cold temperatures and snowy days. Spring can be rainy with temperatures ranging widely before remaining consistently warm.
• Diversity: GECDSB have a developing program with great capacity to welcome international students. Windsor has a diverse mix of international students from over 20 countries. The city is very multicultural, with a long history of welcoming newcomers.
