Latin America and the Caribbean Scholarship

Overview

The University of Essex offers the Latin America and the Caribbean Scholarship to support undergraduate students from the region. This award is a tuition fee discount designed for international students joining in the 2025-26 academic year. You do not need to make a separate application for this scholarship; you will be automatically considered based on your course application.

Scholarship Value

The scholarship is offered as a discount on your tuition fees and the value depends on your country of domicile:

For students from Colombia: You will receive a £5,000 discount for your first year, followed by a £4,000 discount for your second and third years of study.
For students from all other eligible countries: You will receive a £5,000 discount for your first year of study.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must meet all of the following conditions:

You must be classified as an international student for fee purposes.
You must be fully or partially self-funded.
Your country of domicile must be one of the countries listed below.
This award is for your first year of undergraduate study at the University of Essex, starting in 2025-26.

Eligible Countries

Students from the following countries will be considered for this award: Argentina, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, US Virgin Islands, or Venezuela.

Important Notes

You do not need to complete an application form. The University of Essex will automatically assess your eligibility based on the information you submit on your application for your place.
This scholarship cannot be combined with other university-sponsored awards. If you are eligible for multiple scholarships, you will be awarded the one with the highest value.
Students on courses at Essex Pathways are not eligible for this scholarship.
