Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an international fee-paying student admitted to a full-time, first-year degree program at Waterloo starting September 2026.
  • Includes students applying from CEGEP.
  • Not available to:
    • Medical Sciences (Waterloo) and Doctor of Medicine (St. George's University) students
    • Bachelor of Social Work, Doctor of Optometry, Doctor of Pharmacy students
    • Transfer students admitted with transfer credits
    • Students who deferred admission from September 2025 to September 2026
    • Students enrolled in 2+2 or similar x+y programs

Scholarship Value and Disbursement

  • Total value: $10,000 awarded for the first year only.
  • Paid in two installments:
    • $5,000 in late July for first-term tuition
    • $5,000 in late November for second-term tuition
  • The scholarship applies only to the first and second term tuition fees and cannot be spread over multiple years.

Conditions and Requirements

  • Must be enrolled full-time (three or more courses) in both first and second terms.
  • Must maintain international fee-paying status throughout the terms; any change in residency status or tuition fee classification will result in loss of eligibility.
  • No specific grade-point average is required beyond meeting the minimum admission requirements.

Application and Award Process

  • No application is necessary; eligible students are automatically awarded the scholarship.
  • Scholarship details will appear on the Awards and Financial Aid tab in the Waterloo applicant portal starting mid-April.
  • No additional documents or bank information are required to receive the scholarship.

Additional Notes

  • This scholarship does not replace or reduce other entrance scholarships from Waterloo; students may receive multiple awards concurrently.
  • The scholarship is designed to support international students in their transition to university by reducing financial barriers during their first year.
